Recapitulation

The average vehicle price of $442 for 1906 appears to be incorrect. The gross vehicle sales figure and the orders recv’d figure used in arriving at $442, are as shown in the HACo’s records. One or both of them, would appear to be in error as the $442 figure is less than the lowest priced Holsman of that year.

All of the above figures have been taken from the HACo’s records except in the columns AVERAGE VEHICLE PRICE and LABOR COST per VEHICLE. Determination of the AVERAGE VEHICLE PRICE is by dividing their known figures, GROSS VEHICLE SALES by ORDERS RECEIVED. The LABOR COST per VEHICLE figures for 1905, 1906 & 1907, were determined by using these figures. FACTORY PAYROLL divided by VEHICLES MFG. The results show a slight increase each of these 3 years. By assuming that the LABOR COST per VEHICLE for 1908 & 1909 would also be slightly increased, we selected 250 for 1908 and 255 for 1909. By dividing the FACTORY PAYROLLS by 250 and 255, we arrive at the VEHICLES MANUFACTURED figures of 451 and 659 for 1908 & 1909 respectively.

The balance of the unknown figures for 1908 & 1909, except for the MOTORS ON HAND, may be determined as follows:

1908 ORDERS ON HAND = 1908 ORDERS RECEIVED plus 1907 ORDERS ON HAND less 1907 VEHICLES ON HAND less 1908 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED = 398 + 192 – 52 – 451 = 87.

1908 VEHICLES SHIPPED = 1908 ORDERS RECEIVED plus 1907 Dec. 31st ORDERS ON HAND less 1908 ORDERS ON HAND = 398 + 192 – 87 = 503.

1909 ORDERS ON HAND = 428 + 87 – 0 – 659 = -144 (orders short, they had more vehicles than orders).

1909 VEHICLES SHIPPED = 428 + 87 – 0 = 515
